A letter to my {now} 10 year old.

Well hello there G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S!

How is it that you are now 10?! HOW did you ever make it to the double digits? There were days I wondered why they let daddy and I go home with you from the hospital. I mean, we really had no idea what we were doing or what to expect and everyone was somehow ok with this???  I made SO many mistakes. You were quite literally my guinea pig. I can say with certainty that you have handled mommy's shortcomings with grace and LOTS of laughter. Thank you!
We are definitely turning a corner of life this year.  I am sure the inevitable tween years are upon us, but for now you are unaffected by that and I will relish in that as long as I can. Your sweet spirit continues to shine through.  You are a light to people that need encouragement and I love knowing that.
You still play dress up with Mischa.  Frozen has been the biggest reason this year.  You sing songs from the movie at the top of your lungs like you're on stage (see pic above), and it doesn't matter where you are. Your boldness is contagious.  Your sister imitates your every move.  She has a great role model!
Your zeal for God hasn't changed a bit, it's only gotten stronger.  You will use your Bible for reading homework which cracks me up because you write down the book of the bible you read on your reading log.  How AWESOME is that?!  You are not ashamed to mention Jesus in the midst of friends who don't believe or know Him simply because you WANT them to have the same joy and peace you have.  You beg them to listen to a Christian song because it's "sooo good"!  I do wish I had your guts girl!
Playing with the boys has been a new thing this year. I hear you're "one of the guys" at school??? You talk football now? You make the boys laugh???  This does not surprise me.  You will be that girl one day that will dress up in her dress, where the heels, put on the make up, and make every eye and head turn and look your way...yet still have that playfulness about you.  It will drive the boys crazy and in turn put daddy in jail and mommy in the grave!
You are smart! You have amazed me with your grades this year.  This has been a year of "speed" {WOW}.  Despite some rough nights, you always manage to blow my mind with your A's and B's.  You are a strong one kiddo!  Daddy and I are in awe of your talents and creativity in your studies.
You are now playing volleyball (after a long awaited break of any sport because of your leg) and you are having so much fun!  I am having a blast watching you play.  Daddy has pride written all over his face because he can coach his little girl! It's like he has a coat hanger stuck in his mouth when he's on the court with you.  You don't even know what that does to him.  The fact that all of us can be part of this with you, makes us so happy.

My love, I have many prayers for you as you approach these older years.

1.  I pray that you learn that obeying God is the best way to the life your heart truly desires (1Sam 22:15)

2.  I pray that you find comfort in God's ability to reach you, hold you, and rescue you.  (2 Sam 22:17-18)

3.  I pray that you find confidence in God even when the hard times come and you don't know what to do, solely by keeping your eyes fixed on Him.   (2 Chronicles 20:12)

4.  I pray for protection for the right husband, a man of respect and Godly honor and for you to be a woman of joy and laughter whose Christ-Centered character is what makes her most beautiful.  (Proverbs 31).

I pray these things over you now and will never stop praying them.  This goes for you and Mischa!

Happy Birthday my most favorite TEN year old EVER!

I love you with every ounce of my being!

love
mommy
